Community Activities

The community launched the Helping HomeTown Schools fundraiser held at the Mt. Vernon Grange Hall in a scary way!

HomeTown Realtors gathered at Rollins Lake in September to formulate their business plans and marketing strategies for buyers and sellers in today's market.

Helping Hometown Schools

The Helping HomeTown Schools annual fund drive raised $18,000 during its 2004 campaign, and a check for that amount was presented to Auburn Education Foundation executive director, Dr. Ed Gilligan, by Sue Thompson, president of HomeTown Realtors and originator of the annual Helping HomeTown Schools campaign.

Auburn Union Elementary School District's teachers who submit applications are awarded grants for projects not covered by the state or school district.

"Helping HomeTown Schools was a total community wide effort for 2004," said Sue Thompson.  "It served to empower the whole Auburn community to make our schools better.  After all, good schools mean good business and better communities."

The drive raised this year was an increase from the 2003 drive, which was $12,000.

The breakfast at Auburn Elementary School to celebrate and present this year's check was followed by a tour of three different classrooms so that the fund donors could see the various programs that benefited from the grant program.  Everyone agrees that this is a very worthwhile program.

HomeTown Brings Santa to the Elderly

Auburn Journal, December 10th, 2005

Aimed at bringing holiday joy to Auburn area seniors, once again HomeTown Realtors will sponsor their annual Christmas gifts for the elderly drive.

Gifts will be gathered at the HomeTown offices at 1676 Auburn Ravine Road. The HomeTown volunteers urge locals to drop off gifts or pick up Christmas stocking at the office and fill them.

The group needs gifts such as slippers, big print books, puzzles, shawls, stuffed animals and small trinkets unwrapped. The organization suggests the gifts be labeled for either male or female recipients.
